{"id":1834,"date":"2009-08-19T17:03:49","date_gmt":"2009-08-19T09:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nick.onetwenty.org\/?p=1834"},"modified":"2009-08-19T17:03:49","modified_gmt":"2009-08-19T09:03:49","slug":"farewell-mr-arcade-99","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nick.onetwenty.org\/index.php\/2009\/08\/19\/farewell-mr-arcade-99\/","title":{"rendered":"Farewell Mr. Arcade &#8217;99"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Way back in 1999, a friend and I built an arcade cabinet as a summer project.<\/p>\n<p>I ordered the joysticks and buttons from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.happcontrols.com\/\">Happ Controls<\/a> and used the circuit boards from a couple of cheap Playstation controllers. It used to sit in the corner of my room behind two bar stools. It housed all my consoles and had a slot in the front so that I could run controller cables to play <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dance_Dance_Revolution\">Dance Dance Revolution<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GuitarFreaks\">Guitar Freaks<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sega_Bass_Fishing\">Sega Bass Fishing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was awesome&#8230; but heavy&#8230; and difficult to move.<\/p>\n<p>When I moved to Leederville (and later Sydney) it stayed at my parents&#8217; house. My sister used it for a while, but it eventually fell into the category of simply &#8220;taking up space&#8221;.
