It contains a bunch of pressure sensors and connects wirelessly to the Nintendo Wii. Users can play games by shifting their weight.<\/p>\n<p>The first game to use the accessory will be <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wii_Fit\">Wii Fit<\/a>. It appears to be a bunch of fitness themed mini-games including (what they clearly hope will sell the device to middle-aged women) some sort of virtual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/stories\/2002\/07\/26\/earlyshow\/contributors\/minnalessig\/main516487.shtml\">yogalates<\/a> class. It also uses the device as a scale to determine (presumably approximate) <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Body_mass_index\">BMI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this Wii Fit introduction video from the E3 2007 Nintendo press conference:<br \/>\n<object width=\"425\" height=\"350\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5oNVIcMnZh4\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wii_Balance_Board\">Wii Balance Board Wikipedia page<\/a> mentions that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miyamotoshrine.com\/\">Shigeru Miyamoto<\/a> (in <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.media.wii.ign.com\/articles\/804\/804464\/vids_1.html\">an interview<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ign.com\/\">IGN<\/a>) noted that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Probably the simplest and most straightforward [idea] would be a snowboarding game.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hell yeah! I want that game!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Update:<\/strong> As an aside, it&#8217;s great that Nintendo promotes their products in a very inclusive manner; demonstrating use by a wide range of people and focusing on families.
