Something like an <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Designer_toys#Urban_vinyl\">urban vinyl toy<\/a>, but more&#8230; rustic I guess&#8230; and even more &#8220;limited edition&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Some quick internet searches reveal interesting possibilities and material handling information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foam robots! Both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hemmy.net\/2008\/07\/03\/michael-salter-polystyrene-robot-sculptures\/\">exhibition pieces<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kk.org\/kk\/2008\/08\/the-styrobot.php\">hobby projects<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.associatedcontent.com\/article\/1301841\/tips_for_crafting_and_working_with.html?cat=30\">bunch of useful tips<\/a> from Associated Content.<\/li>\n<li>Hot-wire cutting gear from <a href=\"http:\/\/hotwirefoamfactory.com\/home.php\">specialty stores<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbytools.com.au\/prod402.htm\">local hobby shops<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So I may be able to get an organic look by rounding the foam itself&#8230; but I&#8217;d kinda like to make a few models all the same shape, but with different paint-jobs&#8230; so paper-mache may still be the way to go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buying furniture for the study means that I have all this packing foam lying around, and I really want to do something with it other than just throw it away.
