PC demo and game development mixer (16 December)

The IGDA Perth Chapter and OneTwenty are proud to invite all aspiring digital artists and programmers interested in developing entries for next year’s Nullarbor Demo and Game Development Competition to a special event designed to help people form groups and get organised!

Since next year’s Nullarbor competition will be part of the GO3 Electronic Entertainment Expo, this is great opportunity to showcase Perth developers to the world. If you haven’t already started it’s not too late, and we want to help you find the right mix of people to create that perfect game!

Mixer details:

  • Time/Date: 2pm – 5pm, Saturday 16 December 2006
  • Location: Room 13.225, Building 13, ECU Mt. Lawley campus
  • Contact: RSVP to perth@member.igda.org (as artist or programmer)

I’ve planned a few things to make finding and talking to people a little easier, and it’s very important for people interested in attending this event to RSVP (for catering and organisation purposes). There will be computers available for people to demonstrate their previous work to their peers, and space for people who want to bring laptops or portfolios.

I’ve included the invite sent out to the IGDA mailing list after the jump.

Hi,

GO3 will be the biggest video game related event ever held in the southern hemisphere. As well as an awesome exhibition, the Developers Conference is going to include some world class speakers. The Nullarbor Demo Party and Game Competition, to be held on the 30th and 31st of March 2007 as part of the GO3 activities, will be an excellent forum to showcase your skills in the area of demo or game creation. Plus, there will be great prizes up for grabs!

Being part of a team is a great way to show what you are capable of, however it’s sometimes difficult to find a team to work with. The IGDA Perth Chapter and OneTwenty.org are hosting a mixer event to help!

When : Saturday, 16th of December, 2-5 PM
Where : ECU, Mt Lawley Campus, Room 13.225 (Building 13)

The purpose of this event is for artists and programmers to meet and form partnerships so you can create great entries for the Nullarbor competition. Whether you’re a team looking for additional members, or an individual looking to join a team, this is the event for you.

The event is open to all programmers, artists (pixel artists, 3D modellers, concept artists, etc), animators, game designers, audio technicians and musicians, and writers who are interested in being part of a Nullarbor entry. Please bring along a portfolio or samples of your work. The room will have PC’s available to install demos. If you have a laptop, you are welcome to bring that along too.

We will also be hosting a BBQ!

Please RSVP to perth@member.igda.org, and mention whether you’re an artist (graphic or audio) or a programmer. Any specific area of expertise and/or interest would be helpful also. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Regards,

Perth IGDA Working Committee
